Word to the Fathers.

Now is as good a time as any for a blog post eh? You'd think with the small bit of success that I tasted last weekend, I'd get right on it and blog away but life is busy brah.

So about that success.

Raced the Sterling Sizzler last weekend. I'm a sucker for catchy names. The race was in Connecticut. When I think of Connecticut, I don't think podunk or redneck or anything like that. I was sorely mistaken as we arrived at the bottom of what once was some type of mine. The 'experienced' promoter looked how I imagine Jesus to looked. All in all Jesus can run a pretty decent race, hill billy or not.

The day started out with only one team "meeting" and the team car leaving right on time. The awful directions provided by the race enabled us to get insanely lost. The signs that were promised ended up being the small course arrows that I can't see in a race let alone in a car thats going 60mph trying to get to the race on time. I was able to register with some 30 min before Jesus was to tell me to go. Red Bull and Yodles was on the day's menu. It all went down a bit smoother than the Twinky's of the week prior. We're due for a picture aren't we?
Money Shot
Being hill billy and all there wasn't nearly the amount of riders that I toe the line with usually, and the strength of the smaller field was deff. lacking but as they say in the hood "The buyer of the rotten beans is the blind man"
Whole Shot
I took my usual whole shot (as long as I can keep the rubber side down that is) and quickly went to work with the brah who usually wins the much faster Root 66 races.
Gap'in 'em
We hit the single track with a pretty sizable gap over everyone else. Homebra' crashed and I crashed with him (not counting the other 1000+ times I sampled eastern CT's finest dirt). I think he flatted 'cuse I didn't see him the rest of the day. The course was supper technical, muddy and slick. In short, lots of fun to ride.
Everything came together nicely as I slogged away to a 2nd place finish.
The very nice Mount Snow-esc climb was fun to go up and down for the sake of going straight up and then straight down.
Long Climb
There wasn't any podium to stand on or anything, but I still feel pretty satisfied that I was able to put together a good one with the meat of the season upon me. The confidence that was gained is good. Its too bad I wasn't able to line'r up this weekend. Why there aren't any dirt games the weekend of Father's day is beyond me. Next weekend.

I suppose that's a post...
